The luxury port of Port Adriano in the southwest
During the 1970s, the Port Adriano marina was opened, which undoubtedly became the most luxurious marina on the entire island. Designed by the French designer Starck.
The port has a two-storey, approximately 250 m long building, which houses restaurants, offices, cafes and various shops, among other things. There are also two art galleries here, which regularly host exhibitions by renowned Mallorcan artists. Numerous luxury villas and properties are available for sale and rent from the many real estate agents around Porto Adriano.
Strictly speaking, the marina is located around 30 km southwest of the island's capital, Palma, and is therefore easy to reach. From here you also enjoy an optimal connection to other ports and marinas, including Barcelona, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
The marina
Many amateur sailors set off from this port to explore the coastal areas of Mallorca or to sail to the neighboring islands of the Balearic Islands. Excursions for tourists are also offered locally - so if you can't sail yourself, you don't have to miss out on the fantastic panorama from the water. For example, yachts with a skipper can be rented by the day. The port has around 450 berths for yachts up to 18 metres long, and there is also a dry dock.
Work is currently underway to expand the port: almost 100 new berths are to be created so that larger ships up to 60 metres long can also dock there.
Because the Mallorcan capital Palma is not far away, the port is of course an excellent starting point for tours of the surrounding area or for trying out various water sports on the coast. Around the port, on the beaches of Santa Ponsa, there are activities ranging from diving to surfing and sailing to jet skiing and parasailing. Of course, you can also just lie down on the beautiful, gently sloping sandy beach of Santa Ponsa and enjoy the Mediterranean sun.
Services at the port
The port is not only known for holidaymakers, but also for people who work in the ship and yacht industry. Among other things, there is a ship maintenance department, a diving school, a shipping school and a ship trading office on site. It is also possible to charter various yachts and treat yourself to the luxury of enjoying the coasts of Mallorca from the sea for a day - completely private and undisturbed.
There is also the option of renting moorings seasonally. This means that as a ship owner you can leave your boat there over the winter without having to worry about it.
There are numerous restaurants on the harbor promenade that are very popular with both tourists and locals. Many people even travel from Palma to enjoy the elegant and luxurious atmosphere here. The fish in particular is freshly caught and therefore absolutely worth a visit. The picturesque sunset and maritime atmosphere can best be experienced during a romantic dinner on the coast - these are unforgettable impressions!
A holiday in the region guarantees a varied holiday
The port is not only interesting for yacht charter, but is also a good choice for those seeking relaxation and active travellers. There are numerous accommodations in different price segments on site: from luxurious resorts to affordable mid-range hotels for families, there is something to suit every budget.
In the nearby area there are also various options for making leisure time varied for young and old, be it hiking and cycling, on one of the numerous golf courses, horse riding or diving and snorkeling in the sea.
You should definitely take the time to go out by bike or on foot to explore the Mediterranean mountainous hinterland: a little away from the coast you will find breathtakingly beautiful and completely untouched nature, which offers fantastic panoramas in many places.
While the area around the marina is rather quiet, Santa Ponsa offers the typical lively flair of the Mallorcan holiday resorts. Santa Ponsa, which also has a small harbor with yacht charter, has a much higher density of accommodation and restaurants. So if you are hoping for a varied nightlife, you should prefer Santa Ponsa or the nearby Magaluf. Although the marina is also well attended in the evenings, the atmosphere is still quieter and even in in high season it is not as crowded as other parts of the south coast.
Excursions and other tips for leisure activities
For beach holidaymakers, the coastal areas Palmanova, Cala Fornells and Playa El Mago are a popular choice, although they are very busy in the summer months. So if you want more peace and quiet, you should head a little further west - a rental car is an advantage here.
Last but not least, the island's capital, Palma, is always worth a day trip. With its impressive cathedral, which can be seen from afar, as well as the historic old town with its many shops and many cultural institutions such as galleries and museums, it offers something to suit every taste.
