Why real estate agents in Mallorca often fail
Many experienced real estate agents in Mallorca will tell you that they love their work and that this profession is one of the best you can choose. But they often fail.

It can sometimes take several years for a real estate agent in Mallorca to actually be successful and to be able to enjoy positive results in the long term. Nevertheless, quite a few people make this effort and develop a successful career in the real estate sector. However, at least as many aspiring agents give up and turn their backs on the brokerage business. But what are the reasons why so many beginners give up early? These are the three most common reasons that lead to failure:
1. A lack of real estate agent training and a lack of experience
It is one thing to complete an apprenticeship and pass the necessary (voluntary) exams. However, it is even more important to gain experience and put what you have learned into practice. Learning is a lifelong process and just because you have completed an apprenticeship does not mean that you can now stop learning. If you start working in a large real estate agency in Mallorca, be sure to inquire about training courses and opportunities for further education. Most real estate agencies are happy when their employees take up such offers and you will also benefit if you never consider your training to be finished. It is also essential to be successful that you think of a clear plan for your career. Set yourself high but realistic goals and stay in contact with experienced broker colleagues. They can certainly help you achieve your goals without paying too much "tuition".
2. Financial needs are underestimated
Many people enter the real estate industry after already working in another field. It often happens that these people underestimate the costs of good training and building a network. In any case, remember that exams, courses and certifications cost money, as does possible self-employment. Find out as much as you can about the costs involved. This starts with the necessary courses and ends with printing business cards.
Get in touch with real estate agents who are already successful in this field. They can give you the best advice and you can gain an insight into what income and expenses are realistic. Also note that it can take some time before you can record consistent income. After all, you first have to build up a customer base. So you ideally need a financial cushion that you can live off of in the initial phase. If you don't have this financial security, it is difficult to muster the necessary will to stay in the real estate business.
3. Unrealistic expectations as a real estate agent
This not only affects the job itself, but also the life that you expect from being employed or self-employed as a real estate agent. Free time management, high income and little work are possible, but completely unrealistic in the beginning.Don't make the mistake of seeing the profession of real estate agent as an ordinary job. It should rather become a business in which you are the focus.
Remember that buyers or sellers will always find an agent who will broker the deal for you. Houses and apartments in Mallorca are therefore sold and bought with or without you. So first sell yourself and not the properties, because you can only do this job if your customers are personally convinced of you.
Don't see this profession as a way to get rich quickly with little work. You can certainly earn an above-average income with commissions, but this requires a lot of preparatory work. You have to realize that it takes a lot of effort to build a good reputation and gain the trust of potential buyers and sellers. Only when you have achieved this can you benefit from the pleasant aspects of this profession, which is exciting and varied despite all the obstacles.
